Isla Fisher is an Australian Actress who is probably best known for her role in Aussie soap opera ‘Home and Away’ and movies such as Wedding Crashers and Wedding Daze. She was born on February 3rd 1976 in Muscat, Oman and moved with her family to Perth, Western Australia shortly after.
She began acting in commercials at the age of 9 years old and from there was fortunate enough to gain herself a role in the Australian soap opera ‘Home & Away’ as Shannon, unbeknownst to her, this would be her starting block onto a hugely successful career. She stayed on the show until 1997 when she left to pursue her acting career further. She enrolled in a prestigious theatre and arts training school in Paris and later travelled to the UK where she appeared in panto and toured with British actor Darren Day in the ‘Summer Holiday’ musical. The two became romantically involved but the relationship didn’t last long, possibly due to Darren Day’s reputation as a womaniser.
In 2002 Isla won a role in the ‘Scooby Doo Movie’ and from there she gained herself an agent and began appearing in several high profile movies such as ‘Wedding Crashers’ in 2005 alongside Vince Vaughn and ‘The Lookout’ with Matthew Goode. She later went on to film ‘Wedding Daze’ with actor Jason Biggs and Hot Rod opposite Andy Samberg.
Isla Fisher currently lives in LA with her fiancé, actor and comedian Sacha Baron Cohen. She has converted to Judaism as this is Cohen’s faith and after being accepted by his parents the two are expecting their first child together in winter 2007 but a wedding date has not yet been set.
Isla has apparently been offered a speaking role in the upcoming ‘Simpson’s Movie’ and considers herself to be a laid back and easy going person.
She has written two best selling teen novels ‘Bewitched’ and ‘Seduced by Fame’ and is set to be one of this years hottest celebrities.
